Douglas County Courthouse

On September 18, 1919, the most violent race riot in the history of the city of Omaha occurred. The Douglas County Courthouse was set on fire, the mayor was hanged, and Will Brown-- a young black man accused of assaulting a white woman-- was brutally lynched.
